4.2. Single-point systems of injection of fuel

GENERAL INFORMATION

The fuel system consists of the fuel tank which is installed under the car bottom (with the electric fuel pump) shipped in a tank, the fuel filter, the giving and returnable hoses, an injector with one fuel nozzle and the fuel regulator of pressure. Besides, there is an electronic control device (ECU), various sensors and electric components. The air filter contains the disposable paper filtering element and includes a control system of temperature of the arriving air.
Prevention

The fuel system constantly is under pressure, even at the switched-off engine.

System of injection of ECU fuel – the self-adjusted system which controls and stores the data providing optimum operational power setting at various loadings. At shutdown of the accumulator there is a deleting of data and for their restoration it is necessary to start the engine and to take it idling until the system is customized. This process will be better executed when carrying out the road test within 15 minutes at 2500–3500 revolutions per minute.

FENIX 1B SYSTEM

The Fenix IB system – the joint system of ignition and injection of fuel. When using entrances from various sensors the electronic control device calculates the optimum duration of an impulse of a fuel nozzle and installation of an advancing of ignition for providing operational power setting.

The electronic control device receives signals from the following sensors:

 – sensor of frequency of rotation of the engine;
 – the sensor of absolute pressure in a collector;
 – the sensor of temperature of the soaked-up air;
 – sensor of provision of a butterfly valve;
 – sensor of temperature of cooling liquid;
 – oxygen sensor.

Speed of idling is run by the electronic control device via the adjusting valve of speed of idling.
The oxygen sensor allows the electronic control device to operate composition of fuel mix in the limits allowing use of catalytic converter.

The electronic control device constantly changes composition of fuel mix, turns of idling and installation of a corner of an advancing of ignition for ensuring efficiency on all operational modes and reduces emission of exhaust gases.

BOSCH MONOPOINT MA 3.0 SYSTEM

The control system of the Bosch MA3.0 engine (ignition / system of injection of fuel) includes catalytic converter and a control system of release of vapors of fuel, and also carries out the latest standards of management of issue. The system works as follows. The fuel pump shipped in the fuel tank gives fuel from the fuel tank to a fuel nozzle via the filter. Fuel pressure in system is run by pressure regulator. The regulator allows excess fuel to come back to the fuel tank.

The electric control system consists of ECU together with the following sensors:

 – the potentiometer of a butterfly valve – reports to ECU the provision of opening or closing of a butterfly valve;
 – the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid – reports to ECU engine temperature;
 – the sensor of temperature of the arriving air – reports ECU air temperature passing through a butterfly valve;
 – the lambda sensor – reports to ECU of content of oxygen in exhaust gases;
 – the microswitch – reports to ECU when the butterfly valve is closed (that is when the pedal of management of supply of fuel is not pressed);
 – the sensor of provision of a bent shaft – reports to ECU the frequency of rotation of the engine and the provision of a bent shaft;
 – the car speed sensor (on the transmission).

G6 MAGNETI MARELLI G5 I SYSTEMS

The control system of the Magneti Marelli engine is installed on XU5 engines. Work of system is similar to work of Bosch Monopoint MA 3.0. The electric control system consists of ECU along with the following sensors:

 – the sensor of absolute pressure in a collector – reports to ECU depression in an inlet collector;
 – the sensor of provision of a bent shaft – reports to ECU the frequency of rotation of the engine and the provision of a bent shaft;
 – the potentiometer of a butterfly valve – reports to ECU the provision of opening or closing of a butterfly valve;
 – the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid – reports to ECU engine temperature;
 – the sensor of temperature of fuel mix – reports to ECU temperature of fuel mix coming to the engine;
 – the lambda the sensor (oxygen) – reports to ECU the content of oxygen in exhaust gases.

Besides, ECU adapts to the lowered tension on the rechargeable battery, changing width of an impulse of a nozzle and changing the initial provision of a butterfly valve (the additional engine) for increase in turns of idling.

The digital method with use of the data which are earlier introduced in memory of system is applied to processing of signals from sensors.

If there is a mistake in any of the data obtained from the sensor, ECU is included into a way of the doubler. In this case ECU ignores the wrong signal of the sensor and accepts previously programmed value which will allow the engine to continue work (though with smaller efficiency). If ECU is included into a way of the doubler, the lamp of the alarm system on the dashboard will light up and damage will be written down in memory of ECU. After that it is necessary to carry out full test of a control system of the engine, using the special electronic diagnostic test bench which just turns on in the diagnostic socket of system.

Prevention

During the work on fuel system it is necessary to take off previously pressure in system.
