8.1.19. Transfer case of system of the drive 4 x 4

GENERAL INFORMATION

Elements of the transfer case

1 – transfer case,
2 – top arm,
3 – sealing ring,
4 – sealing ring of a forward right half shaft,
5 – intermediate back bearing,
6, 7 – a round sealing ring,
8 – sealing ring of a back exit of the drive,

The transfer case is in an axis of forward power shafts, behind the engine. It provides distribution and management of the driving moment to back wheels by means of planetary interaxal differential. This constructive decision makes division of the moment in the following proportion: 53% for forward wheels and 47% for back. The forward driving bridge with classical differential divides the moment between two forward wheels. Thanks to electromagnetic blocking there is a rigid connection of intermediate planetary transfer.

Removal of the transfer case

Removal


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To merge oil from the transfer case and liquid from the cooling system.
2. To remove power shafts.
3. To remove the top element of fastening of the transfer case directing the index of level of oil. To take a guide of the index of level of oil from the transfer case.
4. To unscrew bolts of fastening of the bearing of the stabilizer and bolts of fastening of a case of steering transfer to a forward cross-piece.
5. To remove a clip of connection of the lower arm of the engine.
6. To unscrew bolts of fastening of the engine of blocking of interaxal differential.
7. To remove a movement limiter axis.
8. To unscrew bolts of fastening of a cross-piece of the engine, previously having established below a telescopic support.
9. To take a cross-piece (it needs to be made together).
10. To remove the limiter of movement and its clip.
11. To establish a steel core so that to avoid loss of a forward part of a power shaft, and then to unscrew bolts of fastening of a forward flange to a drive exit connector.
12. To take a power shaft (it is not necessary to separate a forward part of a shaft from the intermediate bearing since it causes balancing loss).
13. To neutralize action of an automatic natyazhitel of a cable of blocking, having turned it on a quarter of a turn.
14. To take a cable of management of the engine of blocking of differential.
15. To remove control of the transmission.
16. To remove the water input case in the block of cylinders.
17. To disconnect a speedometer drive cable from the transfer case.
18. To establish a telescopic support under the transfer case (to enclose wooden whetstone).
19. To remove the top element of fastening of the transfer case.
20. To disconnect the socket of a control bulb of blocking of differential.
21. To remove the right arm of the transfer case and to unscrew bolts of its fastening to the transmission.
22. To take the transfer case on the right side.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Installation consists in performance of actions in the return sequence in relation to removal process. It is necessary to pay attention to that to install the transfer case together with new sealing rings, to grease the place of a support of a shaft of the left power shaft with Molykote BR2 Plus lubricant, to establish new самоконтрящиеся nuts, to grease bolts of a back power shaft with Loctite lubricant, and to tighten all bolt connections the corresponding moment.
2. To fill in oil, cooling liquid and to remove air from the cooling system, following recommendations about use of operational liquids (see subsection 2.1).

Repair of the transfer case

Also sealing rings as only they are available as spare parts are subject to replacement only a sealant.
