13.3. Repair of insignificant damages of a body

Processing of scratches of a body

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. If scratch is superficial and does not reach metal, wipe area around scratch with an obnovitel of paint or fine-grained abrasive paste.
2. Wash out a surface clear water.
3. Apply on scratch a brush a paint coat and give the chance to it to dry.
4. Continue to apply paint until scratch is not made even to a surrounding surface.
5. Give to paint the chance to harden within 2 weeks, then polish the put paint coat to level with the paint surrounding a spot.
6. In conclusion polish the site of a surface of a body by means of wax paste.
7. If scratch, having damaged paint, got into body metal, then, using a tip of a sharp knife, remove a rust from scratch.
8. Apply rust solvent according to its instruction.
9. Further apply with the pallet on scratch spackling paste.
10. After its full drying paint over and polish the damaged site.

Repair of dents in a body design

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. At deep cave-in of elements of a design of a body first of all try to curve a dent back before the maximum approach to a normal form of a body. Body metal in the place of blow is exposed to a pulling therefore the complete recovery of an initial form is impossible. Alignment of a dent about 3 mm lower than the level of a surrounding surface is considered optimum.
2. If there is an access to dent inside, it is necessary to vystuchat accurately it the soft hammer with a wooden or plastic head. During this operation it is necessary to press to outer side of the tapped area the corresponding wooden whetstone densely. It is required for depreciation of blows of the hammer and for prevention of a flexure of more extensive area.
3. If the dent is in that area of a body where access from a reverse side is complicated or impossible, then in the deepest points of a dent drill several small openings, in openings screw up the self-cutting screws and extend a dent by means of flat-nose pliers for the acting heads of screws.
4. Remove paint from the damaged area and at distance of 20 mm around it. Most easily it can be executed, using the wire brush or an emery paper got on the circle fixed in the electric drill.
5. After alignment of a dent apply on it a layer of hard putty, paint and polish.

Repair of the rusted openings or holes in a body design

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove paint from the damaged area and approximately on 20 mm around it.
2. Using a metal brush, clear the showered rust from the surface of the bared metal on the damaged area.
3. Process the damaged area rust solvent according to its instruction.
4. Close an opening from a rust or a hole the metal gauze or a strip of aluminum foil.
5. Cut out the piece of a grid which is approximately corresponding to an opening form, enclose it in an opening so that its edges did not act over the level of the panel surrounding an opening.
6. Fix it by means of several lumps of spackling paste on perimeter.
7. Using the screw-driver handle, level the ends of a grid so that it densely adjoined to body metal.
8. Further produce filling, painting and polishing of the damaged site of a body.

Filling and painting of a body

When performing spackling works it is necessary to have the wide flexible plastic or nylon pallet for giving of a surface of hard putty of smoothness.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. You make alignment of hard putty on the damaged site of a body so that to give it the required form and smoothness. As soon as it was succeeded to achieve approximately required contour, stop smoothing down hard putty the pallet since at too long smoothing down it will begin to harden, stick on the pallet and to roll down therefore the surface will be damaged.
2. Drawing the subsequent (thinner) layer of hard putty should be made after drying of the previous layer and so until the level of hard putty does not begin to act slightly over the level of the processed site.
3. After hard putty hardening its surplus needs to be removed with a metal scraper or a file.
4. You make further processing, using a set of an emery paper. Begin processing with use of a coarse-grained emery paper and in the subsequent you pass to fine-grained. An emery paper have on flat wooden whetstone, otherwise it is impossible to achieve a plain surface. On a closing stage of grinding the waterproof emery paper should be moistened with water periodically. It gives to the processed puttied surface special smoothness.
5. The puttied dent has to be surrounded on perimeter with a layer of pure metal. For removal from the processed site of dust and fats wash out the processed site water and wipe with the degreasing solution.
6. Raise dust on the site a thin layer of light soil. It will help to reveal all defects allowed when processing in hard putty.
7. The found defects level by means of a new layer of hard putty and again to a zashkurta a surface. Continue this procedure before receiving an ideal surface.
8. After that the field of repair is ready to final painting. Aerosol putting paint has to be carried out in the warm, dry, windless and easy atmosphere. When carrying out painting indoors it is necessary to moisten half of the working platform with water for prevention of hit in dust air. When coloring only of one panel other parts of a body have to be covered from hit of paint on them with the newspaper attached by an adhesive tape.
9. Before putting primer shake up capacity with it, apply primer on a trial surface and achieve that she laid down evenly.
10. Put a thick layer of primer by drawing several thin layers.
11. Polish the grounded surface a waterproof emery paper. At the same time do not forget to sprinkle the ground area water and to periodically moisten an emery paper in water.
12. Before further coloring dry up the processed site.
13. Drawing a paint coat is made by a spray. Thickness of a paint coat is reached by drawing several thin layers. Coloring needs to be begun from the center of the painted area and to move to edges back and forth motions until all painted surface, and also about 20 mm around it are not painted.
14. Remove a protective film and newspapers 10–15 minutes later after drawing the last paint coat.
15. Give the chance to fresh paint to harden at least 2 weeks, then by means of an obnovitel of paint or thin abrasive polishing paste even the edges of the painted area to the level of old paint.
16. Polish a surface.
